Layered Structures
I recently discovered kayaking and found a correlation to my interest in layering and stroking the surfaces on which I paint, and the visual stimuli seen while paddling. Exploring various waterways throughout Rhode Island, I found the landscape surrounding the streams and ponds, the filtered light dappling through the trees and the ever-changing layers visible beneath the surface of the water intriguing. This series of small works utilize a combination of both painting and collage to capture the feelings and sights I experienced.
