Woven Structures

Woven structures have been a recurring theme in my work and have manifested through a variety of different materials. Interconnecting single lines, wires, or threads to build layers that can then be morphed into an object or remain in a two-dimensional state is at the heart of my practice.  With a background in textiles, and in particular, weaving, I am interested in the examining the way things link together to create a greater form.  The strength of a single element is multiplied when interwoven and can be layered to build depth and dimension within the more sculptural objects.  The two-dimensional work, whether painting, print-making or drawing establishes similar effects through the use of light and shadow on a flat plane.
